Excellent performance in baseball, or any sport, has to be built on a solid foundation. The links below will help you establish the core foundation that a player must have to become a great hitter. These mechanical fundamentals and muscle memory drills should be practiced by youth players to instill proper form and function at a young age.

Mental Approach

A player must be able to keep his head in the game to be able to function as a great hitter. The Following articles show the player how to enter the game with the correct mental picture, and operate throughout the game. The statement that baseball is 90 percent mental is a testament for the importance of the proper mental approach in games as well as in practice.


Strength Training

The three components of hitting are Power, Speed, and Accuracy. These strength training articles will help you develop power throughout your swing so that you can hit the ball harder and farther.

The speed of the bat is twice as important as the weight of the bat. A player must be able to generate good bat speed in order to be an effective hitter. A 1mph increase in bat speed can result in approximately 7 feet of distance on a batted ball. These articles address the development of bat speed as well as control of the bat. They should help you be a better hitter!
