Hybrid games shall consist of a maximum of six (6) innings. Four (4) innings constitutes a full game. Weekdays during the school year, no inning shall start after 7:30PM. At all other times, no inning shall start after 90 minutes of play.
Teams with less than nine (9) players may be loaned a player from the opposing team. Teams may position four (4) outfielders on defense.
The offensive team should have coaches at first and third base, as well as the coach pitcher on the field.
A player may pitch the first three (3) innings (starting opening day) from a distance of forty (40) feet. Balls and strikes will be called for each batter. A batter receives four balls. After four balls have been thrown by the player, the coach comes in to finish the batter with a fresh count.
If a batter is hit by a pitch thrown by a player, the coach comes in to pitch with a fresh count or the batter can choose to take first base.
If a pitcher hits two batters in the same inning, the coach must pitch the remainder of the inning.
No more than two (2) innings per game is allowed for any pitcher.
The player pitcher will stand to the side of the coach pitcher when not pitching.
A batter cannot be walked, but can be struck out, either swinging or looking.
Coach pitch will take place from the 4th inning on until the end of the game. The batter gets 3 strikes swinging or looking.
NO WALKS!
Teams are retired at bat after three (3) offensive players are legally put out or when four (4) runs have been scored. The sixth, or agreed upon final inning, is “unlimited runs” until three outs are recorded. If the batting team is up by 10 or more runs in the final inning, the coach of said team should consider stopping their at bat as a sign of good sportsmanship.
Score is kept, but no league standings are maintained. Playoff seeding is determined by a random drawing.
No Bunting.
Players may only advance one base from first base on plays made at 1st base (at their own risk). Otherwise, base runners may advance one base (at their own risk) on overthrows.
Play stops when the ball is returned to the pitcher.
No Infield fly rule.
Fielders may change positions throughout the game.
Batters cannot be moved within the batting lineup during the game. If you start the game batting 3rd, you end the game batting 3rd. If a player arrives late and his/her team has begun the batting order that player will be moved to the last spot in the order that evening.
Catchers are encouraged to use a catcher’s mitt but it’s not required.
Playoff seeding will be by random drawing prior to the start of playoffs. Final regular season records will have no impact on playoff seeding.
Base runners may not leave their base until the ball reaches the plate. Runners may steal 3rd base, providing it is unoccupied by a baserunner. Runners may not advance on an overthrow while attempting to steal. Runners may not steal when a coach is pitching.
A player can never steal home.
